Torque Calibration Training Practical Learning & Why It Matters

06-Apr-2026

Last Saturday, I had the opportunity to attend a Torque Calibration Training, and it was a great hands-on session to deepen my understanding of torque measurement and traceability.

This training was conducted together with our sister company Obsnap Calibration Sdn Bhd (1222585-W), as part of our continuous effort to strengthen technical knowledge and improve competency in calibration practices. It’s always important for us to keep learning and upgrading our skills to better support customer requirements.

One key takeaway is that torque tools such as torque wrenches, torque screwdrivers, and torque transducers may still function normally, but their readings can drift over time due to wear, mechanical fatigue, or improper handling. That’s why calibration is critical to ensure accuracy and consistency.

 How torque calibration is performed

Torque calibration is typically done by applying known torque values using a calibrated torque standard. The tool reading is then compared against the reference value at different points (low, mid, high range).

This allows us to determine:

• deviation / error (%)

• repeatability

• whether the tool meets tolerance requirements

Why torque calibration is important

Accurate torque is essential to prevent:

• under-tightening (loose joints, leakage, failure)

• over-tightening (thread damage, bolt breakage, distortion)

• inconsistent assembly quality

At OBSNAP, we support torque calibration with capacity up to 2000 Nm, suitable for various industrial and engineering applications.

Special thanks to Mr. Cheng for the valuable training and knowledge shared throughout the session — truly appreciated.

Feel free to reach out or visit us for any torque calibration inquiries or technical discussion — we’re always ready to assist.
